Meet Smart Cabling Solutions, Inc.
Formed in 2001 by Ron Wagner, the business was founded on the idea of providing personalized, hands-on service, and support. Brian Koester – RCDD, Vice President of Operations, and Jeff Cox, Vice President of Business Development came on board later in 2001, and Smart Cabling Solutions, Inc. began growing and developing many long-term relationships with customers, vendors, and manufacturers. By 2005 we had gotten noticed for the fast growth and was featured in both the Kansas City Business Journal and Ingrams Magazine.
Sadly, in August of 2024 we lost our founder, Ronnie Wagner, to cancer. Ron was a born leader, who guided Smart Cabling Solutions, Inc. through many tough times, as a fledgling company, but was able to enjoy the fruits of his labor for the last years of his life, as Smart Cabling has grown to be one of the most respected cabling companies in the Kansas City area. We’ll always miss our leader, but we are stronger for knowing him.

Fusion Splicing
Smart Cabling Solutions, Inc. has relied on fusion splicing for fiber terminations for more than 15 years, using factory-polished fusion splice pigtails to achieve consistently reliable results and exceptionally low dB loss during fiber testing. We own multiple fusion splicers from top manufacturers like Fujikura and Fitel, giving our experienced technicians the latest technology to support the same high standards of precision and performance our clients have come to expect. This investment helps us continue delivering clean, dependable fiber installations with excellent test results.
State-of-the-Art Technology
Smart Cabling Solutions, Inc. has made a significant investment in test equipment and training. We use Fluke testers exclusively for testing of all copper and fiber cables. Fluke is the benchmark in test equipment and we own two Versiv DSX 8000 cable testers, along with the Fluke Link IQ Tester. These testers are sent into Fluke annually for calibration and inspection to ensure the greatest accuracy possible.
Based in the Kansas City Metro
The Midwest region, and the Kansas City area in particular, are seeing tremendous growth in the manufacturing and distribution areas. The construction of large distribution facilities in this area has helped us to devote many of our resources into specializing in these type of cabling projects. We have invested a great deal of time and money to make sure that we have the trained personnel, and the best equipment to offer the best in telecommunications cabling. We are a Commscope business partner and offer both the Systimax, and Uniprise 20-year warranties. We are also a Leviton business partner and can provide the Leviton Structured Cabling System lifetime warranty.
We use the Fluke Network Cable testers for testing of all copper and fiber that we install. In 2007, standardized fusion splicing factory polished pigtails for all fiber terminations. This greatly reduced the inconsistency found with field terminations and improved all overall fiber testing results.
